Background

Systemental was founded in 2000 as an innovative Lean service provider dedicated to “better implementation of Lean”

The idea is simple: a standard implementation focuses heavily on the technical side of Lean, our methods deliver and integrate the other half of the Lean equation - the management side. You can see this concept reflected in the design of our logo.

Specialized methods target a common problem: organizations often struggle with the implementation of cross-functional Lean business process improvement efforts.

Systemental’s services have proven to be a very effective solution. Our services may be best described by what Jim Womack of the Lean Enterprise Institute now calls “line management architecting of Lean business processes”†. Jim Womack recently began using this phrase to describe what he believes is the most effective way to drive Lean business process improvement.

Sharing: Our ultimate goal is the transfer of our capability to others so they realize the full benefit of Lean throughout their organization.

Our team members are hand selected and highly trained to:

  • comfortably merge with your internal business resources
  • work as a team
  • deliver the critical components of “line management architecting”

“We’ve been perfecting our service since 2000. You won’t find a more dedicated team, or enjoy a better project experience, working with anyone else.”

A brief explanation of why Line management architecting is critically important.  In 2005, with the publication of their book “Lean Solutions”, Jim Womack and Daniel T. Jones seemed to be honing in on the exact approach developed by Systemental when they stated the following on pg. 182 of their book:

“The problem with most process improvement efforts is simple. The people who perform the value-creating steps in a process do their tasks well only when three conditions are met: when they can see the whole process, when they understand the logic of the whole process and the need for change, and when they believe in the virtue of the new process. The only way to achieve these three conditions is to involve the people actually touching the process in the analysis of the current process and the design of a better process.”

The statement summed up the idea behind the founding of Systemental. We recognized these conditions as essential for delivering the full benefit of Lean process improvement. The phrase “line management architecting” is more recent terminology Jim Womack has been using. He says he likes the word architecting to describing what he believes to be the best approach Lean process improvement. You can find information about our related services throughout our website.
